Estate Administration
![]() In the event of a client's death, we assist the surviving family members in the sometimes complex process of settling the client's estate to ensure a smooth, efficient, and prompt transfer of the client's assets to the beneficiaries named in his or her will or trust. This process can include guiding the client's family through the probate court system, filing income tax and estate tax returns, handling any audits with the IRS and state taxing authorities, dealing with creditors of the client's estate, and assisting with the liquidation and distribution of estate assets. We also assist clients in all aspects of guardianship estates in the probate court system. This may include establishing a guardianship when a minor child receives assets or because an adult is no longer competent to manage his or her assets. We help clients apply for guardianships, prepare accountings of assets and other filings for the probate court, file the necessary tax returns, and transfer the assets upon completion of the guardianship. We can also assist in challenging an attempt to establish a guardianship or an existing guardianship where appropriate. |
