Jan Rieth joined the firm in November 1987, and has been a partner since 1992. Her practice is devoted to the area of family law. Jan assists individuals through all aspects of the divorce process and represents individuals who need legal assistance after their divorce. She also drafts, negotiates, and reviews prenuptial agreements.
She is regularly appointed as a Guardian Ad Litem in the Domestic Relations Court of Cuyahoga County to represent the best interest of minor children in disputes between their parents regarding the allocation of parental rights and responsibilities. Jan has appeared before the Domestic Relations Court and Juvenile Court of Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties as well as the Domestic Relations Court of Geauga, Lake, Medina and Summit Counties.
Before joining the firm, Jan was a Referee (now known as Magistrate) at the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court from 1982 until 1987. Jan serves on the Judicial Selection Committee of the Ohio Women's Bar Association and the Judicial Candidates Rating Coalition (JCRC). Jan is also a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and an active member of The Center for Principled Family Advocacy, a group of attorneys who support alternative processes to litigation in resolving marital conflict.
Jan is married to Rich, also an attorney, and has two adult sons. |
