Schneider, Smeltz, Ranney & LaFond Welcomes Gregory C. Johnson

CLEVELAND, Ohio, July 18, 2011- Gregory C. Johnson is the newest addition to the Schneider, Smeltz, Ranney & LaFond (SSRL) team, a Cleveland based civil practice law firm. He joins SSRL as an Associate after practicing with Reminger Co., LPA for nearly five years, as one of the initial members of its corporate practice area. Johnson has substantial experience in all aspects of business law and will continue to focus his practice at SSRL on corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions and real estate matters.
Throughout his career, Johnson gained the trust of his clients by providing sophisticated legal advice, along with creative strategies and solutions, to a wide variety of business transactions. He is a regular presenter to attorneys, accountants and other professionals on business agreements, entity choice and formation and real estate transactions. Johnson has taken his legal knowledge further as he served as the sole attorney on the Board of Directors for Cleveland Lighthouse and Villaview Lighthouse Community Schools where he advised on a variety of issues such as lease renegotiations and potential purchases.
Johnson began his legal career as Scheduler for Judge Nancy A. Fuerst and Judge William J. Coyne in 2003 while attending law school in the evening. He was responsible for maintaining and organizing the civil dockets of both judges as well assisting with criminal docket and civil case management conferences.
Admitted to the Ohio Bar after earning his J.D. from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 2006 where he won the William K. Gardner Award and CALI Awards (top student in Civil Procedure). He received his B.S. in Accounting with a Minor in Finance from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 2001. Johnson is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association.
In addition to his legal background, Johnson gained significant accounting experience as an Audit Associate at Grant Thornton, LLP. While at Grant Thornton, Johnson performed various audits of non-profits, s-corporations and corporations, as well as assisted in preparation of the financial reports and the accompanying notes to financial statements.
